Historical Gallery.

Dedicated to those who are not yet living in freedom, who suffer repression, regime-made famine, torture, gulags, and fear for their lives and those of their loved ones; and thanks to the internet, have reached this home page @  https://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/welcome.html

Here below is another Cambodian unknown victim of the Khmer Rouge's Tuol Sleng extermination center. For documentation on the Khmer Rouge years, see Chapter 6 of Saving Lives, Enriching LifeDeath By Government, and Statistics of Democide. Source: Yale Cambodian Genocide Program.

This Ring of Tears is a photomontage--a megatomb--memorializing the 174,000,000 murdered by governments 1900-1999. It merges photos of their corpses, bones, and skulls. For documentation on the number murdered and the what, when, where, and who, see this web site. For the photos that were used in the megatomb, go to (or return to) Photographs of Democide: Room 1.

A second megatomb, Rings of Tears: The Murdering, shows the process of murder by governments. The photos for this megatomb are at Photographs of Democide: Room 2. The final megatomb, Rings of Tears: Faces of Death, displays the faces of those about to die, most knowing it. The photos for this megatomb are at Photographs of Democide: Room 3.

HHere is shown Chinese prisoners about to be buried alive by Japanese soldiers. Overall, in China during the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II into which it was merged, the Japanese murdered almost 4,000,000 Chinese and over 2,000,000 others--about 6,000,000 in total. Of these, about 3,600,000 were massacres and atrocities of the kind shown here and in subsequent photos. For documentation, see China's Bloody CenturyDeath By Government and Statistics of Democide. Although presumably all the photos on this site were taken during the Rape of Nanking, I believe some of them, such as the photo here, may have been taken elsewhere.

The Holocaust. Here is a photograph of a German policeman finishing off Jewish women who remain alive in a ravine south of Rovno in Ukraine. These women had been taken from the Mizocz ghetto on its liquidation, forced to strip, and shot en mass. Documentation: see Democide. Source: This is #17878 in the collection of Holocaust photographs displayed by the United States Memorial Museum.
